Sudoku solver and printable sudoku puzzles

Solve or generate a sudoku

Type in the numbers of your sudoku (leave unknown cells empty) and press Solve.

How to use it

  1. Enter your sudoku or pick a level Copy your sudoku's numbers onto the board, or pick easy, medium or hard to generate a new one.
  2. Solve, check or generate Press Solve to see the answer, check your progress without seeing it, or generate boards with a single solution.
  3. Print or save as PDF Press Print and choose Save as PDF to get one sheet with the sudokus and another with the answers.

What you can do

This page has two sudoku tools. The first solves yours: type in the numbers you have, leave unknown cells empty and press Solve; you can also check your progress without seeing the answer, because repeated numbers in a row, column or box turn red. The second generates new sudokus at three difficulty levels, each with exactly one possible solution, and lays them out for printing: one sheet with the boards and another with the answers, which you can also save as a PDF. Everything is calculated in your browser, with no ads inside the board and no account needed.

Where to use it and what to keep in mind

Printing uses your browser's dialog; if the boards are cut off, check the margins and scale in the print options.

Frequently asked questions

How does the sudoku solver work?

It tries numbers in the empty cells following the rules and backtracks when it hits a contradiction, starting with the cells that have the fewest options. That solves even the hardest sudokus in an instant.

Do the generated sudokus have only one solution?

Yes. Every time the generator removes a number, it checks that the board still has exactly one solution; if not, it puts the number back.

How do I download the sudokus as a PDF?

Generate the boards, press Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. You get one sheet with the sudokus and another with the answers.
