How to use it
- Paste or type your text Paste your bio, post or title into the box; the count updates as you type.
- Check the count See visible characters, words, lines, UTF-16 units and bytes; a note tells you when fancy letters or emoji may count twice in some apps.
- Compare with the limit The bars show how many characters you have left or over for each platform.
What you can count
Before you post a bio, a caption or a title, it helps to know how many characters you have. Paste your text and the counter instantly shows visible characters, words, lines and text without spaces, with bars comparing it to common limits like 150 for an Instagram bio, 80 for TikTok or 280 for a post on X. It also counts UTF-16 units and bytes, because fancy letters, symbols and many emoji take more than one unit and some apps count them twice. That way you know whether your decorated nickname fits before you save it. Everything is calculated in your browser: your text is never sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Why do my fancy letters count twice?
Decorative Unicode letters such as 𝐀 or 𝔄, and many emoji, use two UTF-16 units. Some apps count those units instead of visible characters, so your text can seem longer than it looks.
What's the difference between characters and bytes?
A character is what you see on screen; bytes are how much it takes when stored as UTF-8. A plain letter takes 1 byte, an accented one 2, and an emoji usually 4.
Are the social media limits exact?
They're the best-known published limits, but platforms can change them or count differently. Always check the preview inside the app before saving.
Is the text I paste saved?
No. Counting happens in your browser and the text is gone when you close or reload the page.
